Il rapporto tra l’industria cinematografica del Belpaese e la musica giamaicana negli anni settanta è rimasto in gran parte inesplorato, ma offre un panorama per riflettere su ciò che separa l’apprezzamento dall’appropriazione culturale. Attraverso l’uso di una moltitudine di armi di scrittura creativa e di un remake in salsa dub di Per un pugno di dollari, Riccardo Balli collega la frontiera mitica dei dj globali delle West Indies con il selvaggio West, raccontato dai registi come Sergio Leone. Il bling bling della trama è scandito da uno spassoso confronto giudiziario tra Judge Dread e lo stesso Balli che non si tira indietro nel guardare in faccia i crimini del colonialismo fascista nell’Etiopia di Hailé Selassié. #spaghettiwestern #reggae #dub
