Split seven inch out just in time for Joseph Allred and Son of Buzzi European tour.
Joseph and Sebastian (Bischoff aka Son of Buzzi) are two leading figures of contemporary primitive guitar (and beyond).
This is a new split 7”. The idea for the split was sparked when their European tour (October 2025) got announced. Side A features long blues meditation by Joseph Allred, side B offers waltz from Son of Buzzi which reminiscents some of the deepest Fahey’s 60’s. Both tracks were meticulously mastered by Michael Potter.
Artwork for this release is by Štepán Adámek and it depicts Štepán’s vision of Sebastian and Joseph eating pho (?) on used cardboard. I feel like each time I receive a new artwork from Štepán, it hits hard. This hit harder.
Both Sebastian and Joseph are often greeting us with instagram live broadcasts and memos from their very own private temples of guitar. We can often see Sebastian jamming his guitar on the balcony overlooking the Limmat river in Zurich and Joseph playing tunes for his cat in different corners of his house. You often see that each one gave cute like to the other’s video. Now the two sweet maestros meet on real soil. I imagine Sebastian has probably rented some weird futuristic vehicle somewhere in Zurich so they can get around. When they are on the road, it’s all futuristic and fast. But once they arrive at the venue which they are bound to play, it’s all just very traditional, simple and slow, like it should be. Man and his guitar. Man and his beer. Man and his cigarette. Sebastian fires one and marks the place of their future performance with smoke rising up to the beautiful skies. Later on we hear sounds of beer bottles pop and some of the most delicious europa lagers are served.
Before this tour they have already met face to face once before and if i tell you where, you will probably think it’s the beginning of a good anecdote: yes, it was in Nashville.
Now you can still see them live in places like Vienna, Brno, Prague, Ghent or Kiedrich. Stop by and grab the damn seven inch!
