“Ringtones have not been recognized as a legitimate form of indipendent music creativity yet and maybe they never will” (D. Byrne). From the booklet: “26 tracks of fixed sound obtained by editing 726 ringtones – 26 pieces like alphabet letters – audio material took from the web. This is an open work where each material can be repositioned; on the other hand it doesn’t run out the existing ring collection possibilities. Positioned, I propose this work to the acoustic unconscious.” An ironic project emancipated from academies, characterized by cut-up sounds in a Low Fi dimension.
The work aims to investigate the acoustic unconsciousness and fruition of music that, thanks to its versatility, can be conceived as a concrete object: a dialectical image as a picture that has a place in the space. The most important value of this composition is the reflection and the stimulus it proposes regarding the daily sound panorama in which we all are immersed.
Interested in the relationship between critical pedagogy and media activism, his work concerns artistic practices and musical research. He focuses on sound recording as a form of writing — not only musical — and on histories of contemporary music in relation to the broader system of arts and performance.
He lives in Naples.
